The photo library section inside the Archive of the Veneranda Fabbrica

The visual heritage that documents the hsitory of the Duomo di Milano

The Archive tells many stories
, some traced by the ink on ancient and new papers, others impressed by the light on the glass and film. At these latter is dedicated the section of the photo library which includes about 30,000 photographs collected by the Veneranda Fabbrica from the second half of the 1800s.

Among the main groups in which the images are divided, can be mentioned: the Old Photo Library consists of negatives on glass plate, also of large size; the New Photo Library, so called to mark the transition to modern negative on films: the Photocolor , colour slides in different size; and finally, a big section in continuous growing and update dedicated to the digital native images.

Moreover, from the negatives were obtained positive prints, which in turn have been digitised so as to obtain a rich amount of images made accessible to users who wish to view them for study or require any reproductions.
